Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
I looked up Crayola crayon colour names and holy moly are they creative! Some are just straight out weird! But I love them all! Seeing all the colours side by side is just way too aesthetic to care about the wacky colour names!
So here’s how we are going to do this: I’m gonna stick to our rainbow colours and list out some of the fun Crayola names for each colour. Then I’ll show you the book titles that could absolutely be Crayolas of their own! Sounds about doable, right?
You can click on the book covers to visit their Goodreads pages.
Shades of Red
Crayola picks: Wild Watermelon, Rusty Red, Bubble Bath, Smell the Roses, Warm and Fuzzy, Salmon Pearl, Maroon Mist, Bittersweet Shimmer, Dingy Dungeon, Red Salsa
Shades of Orange
Crayola picks: Orange Soda, Smashed Pumpkin, Sunburnt Cyclops, Ogre Odor, Grandma’s Perfume, Atomic Tangerine, Neon Carrot, Macaroni and Cheese
Shades of Yellow
Crayola picks: Yellow Sunshine, Gargoyle Gas, Lemon Lime Zing, Sharpening Pencils, Laser Lemon, Unmellow Yellow, Banana Mania
Shades of Green
Crayola picks: Green Lizard, Alien Armpit, Petrified Forest, Koala Tree, Shiny Shamrock, Screamin’ Green, Tropical Rain Forest, Mountain Meadow, Granny Smith Apple
Shades of Blue
Crayola picks: Caribbean Current, Blue Jeans, B’dazzled Blue, Cosmic Cobalt, Cerulean Frost, Shadow Blue, Magic Mint, Wild Blue Yonder
Shades of Indigo & Violet
Crayola picks: Maui Sunset, Pixie Powder, Lavender Silk, Pearly Purple, Razzle Dazzle Rose, Jazzberry Jam, Purple Mountains’ Majesty
Phew! The toughest colour to sort out was definitely the indigo and violet, and I’m pretty sure red and blue has got to be the easiest ones. Honestly, I think Crayola crayon colours are actually way more creative and funkier than the colour-themed book titles I’ve seen so far! What do you think?

Such a good idea to share actual crayon names! I love that we shared a few books, as well. 🙂 And Alien Armpit is a real crayon color??!! That’s hilarious!
