Colourful Book Covers: Top Ten Tuesday

Colourful Book Covers: Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

There are many colourful book covers that I have on my read list as well as my TBR read list. I love it when the covers display a splash of a mix of colours, especially bright colours! How stunning would those look on shelves? Absolutely stunning!

First, we’ve got the Firebird trilogy by Claudia Gray! Look at the stunning colours on these covers! I love it when the whole series is a collection of rainbow colours that are somehow unique to each book but still follow a theme! I’ve only read the first book but I absolutely loved the inter-dimensional travel plot premise!

Next, we’ve got Across The Universe by Beth Revis! I read this all the way back in 2013, but I liked it. I ended up rating it 4 stars because I loved the characters. When it comes to covers though, this book is my favourite. The other two in the series seemed to be a bit dull?

Next is YA romance that has been haunting my TBR for years: The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord! I’ve heard great reviews about this one, and I was particularly drawn to the romance and friendships in here. Also, the subtle mix of the soft colours on the cover seem to capture the mood of the story well!

I’ve heard so many reviews of Red at the Bone by Jaqueline Woodson that it is hard not to be curious what the hype is all about! This book has been described as poignant, heartwarming and beautifully written, and so is its cover!

The way I see it, The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett is a brighter version of Red at the Bone‘s cover. This book is once again based on family, following two identical twins as they lead very different lives over decades. This book has so much hype surrounding it and I’m really hoping my overwhelming TBR will give me an opportunity to read this soon!

Next I’ve got Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier! Apparently loving fantasy and not having read Marillier is atrocious, so I’m gonna try amend that by indulging myself in her Wildwood series. If a castle in the Transylvanian woods, an enchanted world and a family of five sisters sounds intriguing to you, this is your book!

Next I’ve got a popular T. J. Klune book, The House in the Cerulean Sea! First of all, this cover is absolutely stunning and I’m so curious about what the hype is all about! Based on what I have heard, this story isn’t just a beautiful fantasy but it also addresses deeper issues such as labels and discrimination.

Lastly, I’ve got the most colourful book I have ever set my eyes on: Untamed by Glennon Doyle! My excitement to read this book is beyond belief! It was a Reese’s Book Club pick and all I hear are positive reactions to this book! It doesn’t hurt that it’s a memoir with such a gorgeous cover either!

  1. So many great ones on here! Claudia Gray’s covers are gorgeous! And I own Across the Universe, but sadly I bought it used without the cover. I still need to read it. The House in the Cerulean Sea is on my tbr, too. I’m also anxious to know what all the hype is about. 😉

    1. Thank you! 😁 Yeah, I’m lowkey proud of all the books I used in this prompt! 😂 I’m dying to read The House in the Cerulean Sea!!!!

  2. I love Juliet Marillier and Wildwood Dancing is one of my favorites. It fits into that young YA category that’s all but disappeared these days, but this one will always be one of my favorites of hers because it was my first.
