Happy Sunday and welcome to another Sunday Sum-Up!
The past week has certainly been very eventful for me. I have a big life project that is still in the works and I am hesitant to share details because last year has taught me anything it is that everything is uncertain, plans are not really plans when life gets in the way. So, I am gonna wait till my project has materialised to almost completion before I announce it to the world.
In other life updates, I finally got my first dose of the vaccine yesterday and it took roughly 12 hours of travel! I had to travel to Colombo to get the Pfizer vaccine and we decided to make it a day trip rather than spend two days on it. The side-effects of the vaccine didn’t kick in until around 12 hours after I got it. I had some soreness at the site and by today morning, I had a mildly elevated temperature with some body aches. I can feel myself already recovering though, so yay!
After two weeks of pretty slow reading, I finally finished The Boy with Fire and, as I predicted, it was an amazing 5-star read for me! I also read A Mystery at Lili Villa on time to review it for my blog tour stop next week, so stay tuned for that! Right now I am reading Black Boy Joy, which is turning out to be a possible 4- or 5-star read!
Also, I got another blog tour stop added to my schedule, and this time it’s The Mismatch by Sara Jafari! I am so thrilled at how diverse my shelves have been recently! It’s definitely improving my mood too, and I wonder if that is because I relate to the stories more?
And that’s it for life and reading updates on my end! Let me share some of the content I have been loving recently!
- Michael @ The Book Lover’s Sanctuary reviews Luster by Raven Leilani
- Sammy @ We Write at Dawn reviews A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- Tammy @ Books, Bones & Buffy reviews Transmuted by Eve Harms
- Lindsey @ Lindsey Reads reviews Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon
- Shannon @ It Starts at Midnight reviews a bunch of late July/early August releases, including Small Favors by Erin A Craig & Mercury Boys by Chandra Prasad
- Mackenzie @ Lit Lemon Books reveals 5 things she has learned blogging
- Sofii @ A Book. A Thought. shares some August 2021 book releases that she cannot wait for!
- Althea @ Althea is Reading lists out some sports sapphics recommendation in her The Sapphic Olympics!
- May @ Forever and Everly guides us through her wonder book review writing process, including some great tips!
- Amanda @ Bookish Brews shares diverse book releases coming in August 2021
Claire @ her_darkmaterials
I made a list of 5 Upcoming Book Releases with a Healthy Dose of Revenge & Vengeance in their plots!
I reviewed ‘So You Want To Build a Library’ by Lindsay Leslie and illustrated by Aviel Basil.
True to my almost non-existent self-control, I exposed all my bookish spoils of the last month!
And that’s it for this week’s Sunday Sum-Up!

Congrats on your vaccine, I can’t believe you had to drive so far to get it. Meanwhile here in the U.S., people don’t want to get it 😥 What a messed up world, right? Hope you have a good week😁
IKR! It was worth the distance honestly! That’s just terrible! I hope everyone just prioritises safety and keeps their communities healthy. Thanks Tammy! I hope you have a good one too!
Congrats on getting the vaccine! I’m sorry you have to travel so far for it though. It shouldn’t be like that.
I agree, the travelling was really hard and unfair tbh, but at the end of the day I’m just glad I got the vaccine at least. Phew! Thanks Annemieke!
Congrats on your first dose!! And I’m sending good vibes for your potential project. <3 <3
Thanks Dedra!!!
Yay for getting your first shot of the vaccine, though I’m sorry you had to travel so far to be able to get it. Good luck on your life project, hope it goes well!
Thanks Lindsey!
Ahh big congrats on getting your first vaccine dose! I’m so happy you’re recovering well. When I got mine a few months ago I was a mess: had the chills, a fever, and felt so nauseous! It’s no joke, but totally worth it! Just found your site and loving it! I can’t wait to see more of your posts <3 I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thank you! I was really worried I would feel sicker than what I felt then tbh so I’m glad I was fine! Haha! Thank you so much for the love! I always love seeing new people on my blog! Welcome!
Your Sunday sum-ups are magnificent! I love how much care you put into curating posts and doing shout-outs, it’s genuinely impressive. I also really enjoyed the review of Luster, thanks for sharing it! Congrats on your first dose, and I’m so glad you’re having a good reading week! Sending good vibes from my neck of the woods 💕

Aaah I’m so glad!
YAYY so glad you received the first dose! Like others have said, I am also SO sorry you had to travel so far. I assume you’ll have to do the same for the second shot? That is crap, honestly, but I am glad you will be vaccinated! Also yay for a great reading week too. And looking forward to hearing your life news when you are able to share it! Hope you are having a great week this week, too!
Thanks for all the well wishes, Shannon! Means a lot! I hope you have a great week too and some great reading as well!
