I watched a few episodes of Maigret a few months back and I loved it! I have always been a sucker for detective mysteries, so this book was a hit before I even started reading it! Pietr the Latvian is the first book in the Inspector Maigret series.
What did I recently finish reading?
- Emotional
- A monster
- Bleak but tinged with hope
I absolutely loved this one! A Monster Calls is quite possibly one of my favourites this year! I didn’t even attempt to write a review because I could not break down my thoughts into words. Frankly, this book hit me really hard because, having been in a situation similar to the main character’s before, I empathized with him a lot. This book was beautifully written and a total tearjerker!
What will I read next?

I really hope I get to read the A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire ARC before the book releases on September 1st! My life is a bit hectic right now (upended future direction and all that jazz), but I’m going to try my hardest to get this ARC review out for you, me and JLA (who is the God of writing, in my opinion).
