I was tagged by Samantha and Amber @ Bibliomavens to take part in their original tag, MEET THE BOOK BLOGGER! How cool is that? I was absolutely ecstatic! It also sounds like the perfect post to celebrate me turning 24 today, because YES! I’M 24 NOW!
These amazing book bloggers came up with Meet the Book Blogger to allow us, book bloggers, to talk more about ourselves and our reading habits through ten questions that you get to answer. Make sure you check out their blog for more fun, creative and beautiful content!
What you need to know about Meet the Book Blogger
The rules are:
- Nominated bloggers can nominate ten other bloggers.
- Use the same questions from the tag.
- Tag the original creator and the blogger who tagged you.
The questions are:
- Who is your all-time favourite book character?
- If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)
- What’s your most unpopular book opinion?
- What’s your weirdest bookish habit?
- What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?
- What made you decide to start a book blog?
- What about reading and books do you love the most?
- What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?
- What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?
- What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?
Now that we know all the nitty-gritty about how this works, I’m going to jump into these questions and try not to rant too much!
Question 1: Who is your all-time favourite book character?
This question feels almost impossible to answer and I just sat there in front of my screen for a good 15 minutes before my answer came to me! My all-time favourite book character is Matilda from Matilda by Roald Dahl. She was my childhood idol growing up and I was so inspired by her reading habits! All I wanted was to be as bookish and cool as Matilda. The odd bit about this is that I never read the original English copy; oh no, I read the Sinhala translation! I’m pretty sure it’s the only Sinhala book I ever finished reading… multiple times, too. I even carried it around with me everywhere, so that copy is pretty battered by now.
Question 2: If you were stranded on a desert island, which book would you take with you? (Survival books do not count)
Can I take a series with me? Because I would totally haul the whole Blood and Ash series with me to a desert island and just lose myself in that incredible high fantasy with no hesitation. You could probably tempt me onto an island that way too. Just leave the books there and I’ll strand myself there! Haha!
Question 3: What’s your most unpopular book opinion?
Answering this question is terrifying, but here goes! I do not like The Hunger Games or Divergent movies! The books were alright and the movies just fell flat, in my opinion. I remember being pretty invested in Katniss but I did not like the romance angle of that whole series. Same with Divergent; I was interested in the plot but I didn’t really care much about the characters at all.
Question 4: What’s your weirdest bookish habit?
Hmmm, this one might even be an unpopular opinion. The thing is… I love cracking book spines! I love laying the book flat when I am reading it. Then when I’m done, I love seeing the spines all cracked. The way I see it the cracked spine shows that I’ve read it and I had a mighty good time doing just that. I don’t get why people try to keep the spines uncracked! I feel like the book looks so lonely and neglected when there is no evidence of my reading it.
Question 5: What character would you bring to a family event as your fake partner?
Oh God, this question is so much fun! I almost wish I had to do this in real life! Haha! Also, this is a hard one since a list of names popped into my mind. Hmmm, I choose… Kieran Contou from the Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I honestly can’t explain it, but I feel like Kieran and I would get along famously! Haha! Kieran feels like such a low fuss guy and I would totally enlist someone like him for a situation like this. Also, any Kieran fans out? Shoutout in the comments!
Question 6: What made you decide to start a book blog?
Until last year I had a Blogspot space where I ranted about books with no rhyme or reason, and that started purely as an outlet for my thoughts. I almost never interacted with anyone then, and my blog had literally my solitary self talking to myself! Haha!
During last year’s lockdown days, I was done with university and I had not started a job yet, so I got interested in revamping my blog on WordPress. I wanted to really talk to bibliophiles about books and make solid posts with quality content. I spent hours educating myself on website designs and SEO. Then I spent hours setting up this site and now here we are!
I am truly amazed at the response I have gotten and even more humbled by the people who think my content is worthy of their time! And I’m also glad that I truly attained my goal: to connect with bookish people who validated my interests and opinions!
Question 7: What about reading and books do you love the most?
I love the escapism of it. Whether it is fantasy or contemporary, I always find something to appreciate. When I couldn’t travel, reading allowed me to. When I couldn’t spend time with my friends, reading allowed me to. When times were hard and bleak, books gave me solace in alternate worlds and people.
Also, I love the smell of books! I make sure I walk into my library every morning so I start my morning with that delicious smell!
Question 8: What is your field of study/desired profession/current profession?
I graduated with an MBBS (Honours) last year and I am planning on starting my internship this year or the next. I’m more interested in the academic than the clinical side of medicine, but I am still very excited to start. My plans have been delayed due to lockdown but it’s been a great break so far!
Question 9: What are some book recommendations that became your favourites/obsessions?
I’ll list out the top 5 that pop into my head right now:
- Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
- Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- Wait For You by Jennifer L. Armentrout
- The Princess Bride by William Goldman
- Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Question 10: What is the book you shove down everyone’s throat?
From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I literally shove it down everyone’s throat, including people who hardly read fantasy, which I almost feel bad about. But I firmly believe this series can make you fall in love with fantasy so READ IT, GUYS!

Thanks for tagging me😁 I loved The Hunger Games, at least the first movie. The others not quite as much. But I loved the books too so maybe thats why.
You’re welcome! Yes that makes sense! I wish I had been as excited about it haha!
Thanks for the tag! I’m lousy at tags but I will try to do this!
Haha! No worries! 😁
Thanks so much for the tag! ❤️ I loved reading your answers! I can really relate to some of what you’ve said. I didn’t watch the Divergent movies cos I knew I would hate them LOL I still need to read the From Blood and Ash series but I have it high up on my TBR cos I keep seeing it EVERYWHERE and the FOMO is starting to be too real 😂 Can’t wait to read it though so I’m glad to see you love it so much!
Aww thank you! You’re very sweet! 💛 I’m so excited for you to read FBAA! It’s my all time favourite fantasy right now! 😍
Yaaaaayyyy I loved reading your answers! Thanks for taking part in the tag! Also, happy belated birthday!! 🎊🥳
I really need to read Matilda! The movie is one of my all time favourites and I watched it almost every day as a kid. I connected with her so much. Samantha and I were just talking about Hunger Games and Divergent today. While we both really enjoyed them plot wise, we cared nothing for the characters. Especially Gale. I liked the characters more in Divergent, but even that wasn’t a whole lot.
I always love reading who people would take as a fake partner. I read From Blood and Ash, but haven’t read the rest, but I can definitely see where Kieran would be low fuss and a good date choice! Again, loved reading your answers! 🥰 – Amber
Hey Amber! I’m glad you enjoyed my post! I was a bit nervous about doing a tag for the first time! 😂
Matilda was such a great movie too! But the book is it for me! I didn’t love the characters of THG or Divergent either, which is a huge negative point for me. Plot was alright too, I guess.
I think the fake partner question is my favourite too! You should read the 2nd book for more Kieran! 😍 Thanks for dropping by!
I agree with the Divergent and Hunger Games movies. Actually, I didn’t even finish reading Divergent. I gave up in the last book lol Weren’t the movies so bad the last 2 were made for TV? haha I also love reading for the escapism. That’s one of the reasons I still read YA. I just want some fun battles with cute romances. I typically avoid classics, I probably should read more though. Also, I want to read From Blood and Ash so bad! I went out and bought it a couple weeks ago because I NEED TO KNOW!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that about THG and Divergent 😅 But yeah, it’s frustrating how much people hyped it up too! And yes, you need to read FBAA!!!! 😍
