My Ten Most Recent Reads: Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

What’s more fun than writing/talking about all the books I have been reading recently? Well, that sounds pretty fun to me! And I’m so excited that this week’s Top Ten Tuesday is exactly that! I hope you enjoy these quick one-sentence reviews and pick up some of these along the way!

10. (Re-read) The Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is my all-time favourite series ever, so I will physically shove this down everyone’s throat if I could!

My review of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire is here.

My review of The Crown of Gilded Bones will be up soon!

9. Why Men Want Sex and Women Need Love by Allan and Barbara Pease

Honestly surprised me with how entertaining it was and I learnt some pretty interesting facts along the way!

8. Max and the Spice Thieves by John Peragine

Max and the Spice Thieves book cover

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Very clever world-building with a host of intriguing characters but I thought the ending felt a bit rushed.

My review of Max and the Spice Thieves is here.

7. Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Literally, everything I want in a contemporary romance novel: steam, chemistry, swoon-worthy romance and a healthy dose of humour!

6. Half the World Away by Rebecca Banks

Half the World Away book cover

Rating: 2 out of 5.

I loved the main character’s journey throughout the book but oh my God, the romance is just too cringey!

My review of Half the World Away is here.

5. Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A close look at a small town community’s tribulations and experiences that totally took me by surprise!

4. Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace

Firebreak book cover

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A dystopian standalone that brought me to tears by the end of it, A.K.A. read it!

My review of Firebreak will be up soon!

3. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Carry On book cover

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I will die for Simon Snow and Baz Pitch!

2. The Insiders by Tijan

The Insiders book cover

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I really wanted to like this book but the predictable plot and the dry romance just didn’t cut it.

My review of The Insiders is here.

1. The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

The Kiss Quotient book cover

This book was romance gold and I will rave about this book till the end of time!
